Blending Perspectives from Every Continent
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, described Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries as a dangerous miscalculation that risks destabilising the region and sending shockwaves through the global economy. In an interview with Sky News, he noted that Qatar has entered a very difficult period following repeated attacks, while praising the professionalism and resilience of Qatar’s defence and security forces. He characterized the strikes as a profound betrayal and pointed out that, just an hour after the conflict began, Qatar and other Gulf states were attacked. He stressed that Qatar would not participate in wars against its neighbours and highlighted Qatar’s long-standing diplomatic channels with Tehran, expressing surprise and disappointment at the attacks. He argued that Iran’s miscalculation has destroyed existing relations and emphasised that renewed negotiations remain the path forward to de-escalate tensions and restore regional stability, despite the crisis.
