Sources inside Afghanistan, including officials linked to the Islamic Emirate, told Afghan Times that quiet signals have emerged from Doha about the future of the Taliban political office. Doha reportedly indicated the office may need to close if current concerns remain unresolved. While Qatar has shown interest in investing in Afghanistan's infrastructure—airports, dams, and other development projects—several proposals have remained unattended since October 2025. A central issue is the continued presence of militant groups operating from Afghan soil, which has also affected Pakistan through cross-border security threats. The message from Doha appears clear: meaningful investment and economic cooperation will remain limited unless Afghanistan addresses security concerns and regional stability.
