Former Chief Minister of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and president of the IIOJK National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a wedding in Jammu when an attacker approached from just a few steps behind and fired at point-blank range. The shot reportedly missed, allowing Abdullah to escape unharmed. The suspect, identified as Kamal Jamwal, was immediately apprehended by bystanders at the scene. Video footage circulating online shows Jamwal being beaten by the crowd after his capture. Abdullah, 65, has reportedly claimed that he has been waiting for this moment for nearly 20 years. Jamwal told police he is a resident of Purana Mandi. Authorities have launched a full investigation, reviewing security footage and interviewing witnesses to determine motive and any security lapses.
