Sources within the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan told Afghan Times that a top-level decision-making meeting of senior leadership was scheduled to review the ongoing security situation with Pakistan and assess recent developments on the ground.

According to the sources, the meeting was intended to discuss losses and overall security developments related to the current tensions with Pakistan, as well as the diplomatic outreach the Islamic Emirate recently made to several countries seeking support to facilitate a possible ceasefire.

However, the meeting could not proceed as planned due to internal coordination issues among different leadership circles. Some senior figures from the Kabul side were reportedly unable to attend, while consultations involving Sirajuddin Haqqani, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, and other senior members were not aligned at the same time.

Sources say that Amir-ul-Momineen Hibatullah Akhundzada has recently been holding more consultations with leaders close to the Haqqani side, while some members linked with the Kabul group were not present for the scheduled session.

The meeting reportedly took place at a private undisclosed location rather than Kabul or Kandahar because of security concerns. Due to the absence of several key participants and internal faction-level coordination issues, the discussions could not move forward. As a result, the meeting ended without final decisions and has reportedly been postponed for a few days, while internal differences and coordination gaps among leadership circles remain visible.
